Overview

How our legal courses work

Each of our legal courses follows a set path. First, a short lesson explains one idea. Then a quiz checks that you understood it. As a result, you build knowledge step by step instead of jumping between pages.

The courses draw on the same sources as the rest of the site. For example, a lesson on motions links to the motion’s own page and to the official rule. Likewise, a lesson on research shows you how to find and check a primary source yourself.

Your progress saves to your free account, so you can stop and come back at any time. In addition, you can read the current federal court rules alongside any course.

Our legal courses teach how the law works in general. However, they are not legal advice. For help with your own case, talk to a licensed attorney.

Courses open one at a time. Before a course goes live, every lesson passes the same source review as the rest of the site. Until then, the guides in Learn the Law cover the same topics in depth.

When a course opens, you can enroll with one click from your account. Then your progress, quiz results and completed lessons stay in one place.

Legal courses — an educator on a video call

Lawtopolis provides legal information and education, not legal advice. Using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. Laws and court rules vary by jurisdiction and change over time; verify every authority against the official source and consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction about your situation.
