Overview

How the community forum works

This is a place to learn from each other. First, create a free account. Next, pick the forum that fits your question. Then start a topic or reply to one that is already open.

Good posts share sources. For example, link the statute, rule or court decision you are reading, so others can check it too. Free official sources include the United States Code and the current federal court rules. In addition, say which state or federal court you are asking about, because the rules differ from place to place.

Please keep it respectful. Disagree with ideas, not people, and assume good faith. Also, never post private information about anyone, or confidential details of your own case, because posts are public.

Moderators may remove spam, advertising, harassment or posts that break these guidelines. If you see a problem, use the report link on the post.

Finally, remember that posts are discussion among members. They are not legal advice. For advice about your own situation, talk to a licensed attorney, for example through our directory.
